The role of Pro-M in the global community of public safety operators
In previous articles of our series on Pro-M’s international professional collaborations, we introduced our activities within the Airbus Operators Forum (AOF) and our role in the TETRA and Critical Communications Association (TCCA). These partnerships have been supporting our operational and development activities for more than fifteen years, providing a solid professional foundation and valuable trusted relationships that extend beyond formal meetings.
One of the most significant cooperation platforms is the Global Public Safety Operators Conference (GPSOC), which fosters global communication among governmental public safety service providers. The idea of establishing this forum was initiated in 2019 by the German BDBOS and the U.S. FirstNet leadership, joined by representatives of several European public safety operators. They recognized the common challenges and shared needs of users and service providers in the field of public safety broadband communication.
The annual conference focuses on the latest technical, technological, administrative, and security aspects of public safety broadband mobile services and Mission Critical Services (MCS), including voice, data, and video solutions built on these infrastructures. Pro-M has been an active participant in GPSOC since its inception, contributing to the advancement of next-generation communication solutions that serve public safety and disaster management.
A similar platform for professional exchange is the Public Safety Radiocommunications Group (PSRG), of which Pro-M has been a member since 2019. This informal network brings together experts from European public safety operators and network users. The group meets twice a year to discuss current topics in public safety communications, covering technology, operational practices, use cases, and cross-border communication challenges. The PSRG currently has 75 members from more than 25 European countries.
When developing its recommendations for the enhancement of Hungary’s national public safety communications, Pro-M consistently draws on the best practices and insights gained through these long-term international professional collaborations.
