Our series on the international professional collaborations of Pro-M Zrt. aims to provide insight into the highly complex world of critical communications through the lens of our company’s global engagement in this field. In our previous article, we introduced our work within the Airbus Operators Forum (AOF); this time, we focus on our role in the TCCA (TETRA and Critical Communications Association).
Pro-M joined the TCCA in 2016 as a government service provider. Today, the association has around 150 members worldwide and is recognized as the leading international organization dedicated to developing and promoting standardized critical communication solutions for public safety and mission-critical users.
The TCCA plays a dual role: it coordinates the standardization of professional communication systems for public safety and other critical sectors, while also providing a global forum for governments, regulators, manufacturers, service providers, and end users to collaborate on key issues shaping the future of critical communications. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the organization’s mission includes advancing communication solutions that specifically address the needs of Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) users, driving technological innovation, and fostering global adoption.
TCCA’s work is organized through a network of specialized working groups. Out of the ten active groups, Pro-M participates in four and closely monitors the work of others. This active engagement has played a key role in enabling our company to launch its EDR broadband data transmission service in February 2025, followed by voice and SMS services in October 2025.
The new Pro-M LTE network offers increased capacity with nearly 2,500 base stations, operating in parallel with the current EDR TETRA infrastructure. As of February 1, through our mobile network partner One Magyarország Zrt., the Pro-M LTE network has achieved nationwide coverage. Continuous development is underway, including the expansion of broadband data capabilities and the future integration of 5G technology.
Pro-M is also an active participant and presenter at the Critical Communications World (CCW) conference, the flagship annual event organized by TCCA and the most prominent global gathering for organizations involved in critical communications.
