Pro-M Zrt. is a founding member of the Airbus Operators Forum.
Pro-M Zrt.’s international professional collaborations play a key role in ensuring that Hungary’s nationwide mission-critical communication system continues to operate at the highest level of reliability and performance. The company is an active participant in several international organizations, and over the coming weeks, we will introduce some of these key bodies and highlight Pro-M’s role within them. We begin the series with the Airbus Operators Forum (AOF), of which Pro-M is a founding member.
Airbus is the supplier of the TETRA-based digital trunked radio system that serves as the technological foundation of Hungary’s Unified Digital Radio Communications System (EDR). Since 2006, Pro-M Zrt. has been responsible for ensuring 99.9% network availability across the country, enabling continuous voice and narrowband data communication — making it a cornerstone of reliable public safety communications in Hungary.
The Airbus Operators Forum (AOF) is an informal cooperation platform that brings together European government service providers operating Airbus TETRA networks offering nationwide coverage. In addition to Pro-M Zrt., the founding members include the Belgian, German, Finnish, Estonian, and Swedish national service providers. Pro-M’s active participation in the forum — established in 2008 — contributes significantly to the continuous improvement and high quality of Hungary’s mission-critical communication services.
A key objective of the forum is to enable regular knowledge exchange among members on network operations, maintenance, and development, focusing on sharing best practices and lessons learned from managing systems built on similar technical foundations. The forum also serves as a joint representation platform, allowing members to advocate their shared interests with the manufacturer, thereby influencing product development directions and support decisions.
Through this structured collaboration, Pro-M has achieved measurable cost savings in both operations and development. These efficiencies result from a deeper understanding of partner organizations’ operational models, extended manufacturer support periods, and the adoption of proven technical solutions and methodologies.
Beyond financial benefits, this cooperation continues to enhance the professional standards of Hungary’s mission-critical communications.
The AOF convenes twice annually, with both technical and executive sessions. Hosting responsibilities rotate among members, and Pro-M has hosted the event on several occasions, most recently in May 2019. The next meeting is also scheduled to take place in Budapest in 2026.
