EDR Solutions Supporting Safety at the 2025 Formula 1 Lenovo Hungarian Grand Prix – Celebrating 40 Years of the Hungaroring
In 2025, the Hungaroring proudly hosted the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix for the 40th time. To ensure secure and stable EDR (Unified Digital Radio Communications System) coverage in the newly renovated paddock building, preparations began as early as February. As the technical operations centre of the race weekend, the paddock requires uninterrupted and highly reliable radio communication — essential for public authorities, organisers, and security teams throughout the event.
By early May, detailed implementation plans were finalised, and by the end of the month, the indoor EDR system — comprising 24 antennas and nearly 1,000 metres of cabling — was fully installed.
Ahead of the Grand Prix weekend, radio coverage measurements were carried out around the circuit to verify TETRA network performance. During the event, on-site radio support was provided by Pro-M experts, who worked in close coordination with law enforcement agencies to ensure seamless, interference-free communication across all operations.
To further support the Pest County Police Headquarters, additional handheld radios were supplied beyond the standard allocation to meet the demands of the increased police presence.
The successful delivery of EDR services once again reflects the precision planning and technical excellence of Pro-M Zrt.’s engineering and operations teams, whose on-site professionalism and commitment ensured reliable communications throughout the event.
The 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix was won by Lando Norris (McLaren), with Oscar Piastri (McLaren) finishing second and George Russell (Mercedes) taking third place.
Pro-M Zrt. is proud to have provided the mission-critical communications infrastructure that contributed to the safe and successful operation of this milestone Formula 1 weekend.
